‘Redemption Song’ Available on US iTunes

As we reported yesterday, Rihanna is going to perform Bob Marley’s Redemption Song on Oprah today. The song is available for charitable purchase through iTunes for a limited time. Proceeds will benefit Hope for Haiti Now. Download the song here – only for US citizens. If you’re not from the US, visit our forum to listen to it.

Rihanna’s Hard has jumped from #9 to #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Russian Roulette has fallen from #76 to #90.

Make sure to request and buy “Hard” on iTunes.

In other news, Rude Boy, the next single, is already top 50 on iTunes in a few countries without being officially released. Hopefully Rihanna is going to perform the song at this year’s NRJ Music Awards and Grammy Awards.

Rihanna to Perform ‘Stranded’ in Haiti Telethon

Rihanna says she will perform a new song called “Stranded” with rapper Jay-Z and U2’s The Edge and Bono at Friday’s “Hope for Haiti” telethon in London.

During the taping of a Norwegian talk show in Oslo on Thursday, the R&B superstar said she feels drawn to the cause because of Haiti’s proximity to her home country of Barbados. “In the Caribbean, we think of ourselves as one big family, one country,” Rihanna told the host of the show, Fredrik Skavlan. “We’re all together. We all represent each other.”

Bono wrote the hook for “Stranded” — his new Haiti benefit single with Jay-Z and Rihanna, which is subtitled either “Haiti Mon Amour” or “Haiti Mi Amore” — while on the phone with producer Swizz Beatz. “The idea of the song is ‘We’re not gonna leave you stranded’ and that’s what the chorus is,” Swizz Beatz tells Rolling Stone.

“So me and Bono started going back and forth with ideas, and he was like, ‘You know this word stranded keeps standing out to me’ and I asked him to sing it, and he put me on hold ’cause he’s recording the ideas on a Dictaphone — so he did it there and then on the phone.”
