Pop star Rihanna said she loves London and wants a house in the capital as she switched on the Christmas lights at a shopping centre. Wearing a red silk skirt, grey corset and a white bow in her hair, the singer cheered as the lights marked the official launch of the festive season. She was joined on stage at the Westfield shopping centre in London's Shepherd's Bush by children from charity Help a London Child.

The 11-year-old Broadway star died on Monday in Long Island.



Shannon Tavarez, the 11-year-old Broadway actress who starred in the hit musical "The Lion King," died Monday after a long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Known for visiting and helping other cancer patients, Rihanna took to her Twitter to send condolences to the family of the young star.

"Just got off of a plane ride and got horrible news that our little star Shannon [Tavarez] has lost her battle against leukemia! Way too soon ... keep her family in your prayers," Rihanna tweeted on Tuesday.

Diagnosed with leukemia in April, Tavarez had difficulty finding a bone marrow match because of her mixed ethnicities (African-American and Hispanic). Rihanna and Alicia Keys attempted to raise awareness for the performer by encouraging fans to register as donors.

Kings of Leon's "Come Around Sundown" (Hand Me Down/Sony Music Entertainment) starts a second week atop Billboard's European Albums chart, while European Hot 100 Singles has a new No. 1 in the form of Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World)" (Def Jam/Universal).

The Rihanna single holds at No. 1 in Austria and Wallony and adds No. 2 debuts in the United Kingdom (on sales of 126,000) and France. It's up 20-2 in France and stays at No. 2 in Germany and Norway, No. 3 in Denmark, No. 4 in Flanders, No. 5 in Holland and No. 8 in Sweden. [SOURCE]

Rihanna will perform at this weekend’s MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in Madrid. The singer will appear at the main show, while 30 Seconds To Mars will perform at MTV’s free gig at Puerta de Alcala.

The Pretty Reckless singer and Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen and Dizzee Rascal will also present awards. The 17th annual EMAs take place at Caja Magica on Sunday (November 7) and will be hosted by Hollywood actress Eva Longoria.

Katy Perry, Linkin Park, Shakira, Rascal, Kings Of Leon, Miley Cyrus, B.o.B and Haley Williams will also perform at the ceremony. Lady Gaga and Perry both have four nominations, including nods for Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song. Bon Jovi will collect the inaugural Global Icon honour.
